Downtown Greenville comes alive for the annual Fall Crawl — a full day of shopping, seasonal treats and family activities all across Historic Downtown.
Scarecrow Decorating Contest
Our featured Fall Crawl tradition is back! Turn a downtown light pole into a scarecrow and let the community vote for its favorite. Decorated poles stay up through Halloween, so your design is on display for the Fall Crawl and all month long.
Entry fee: $20 · Deadline to apply: September 30, 2026
How to Enter
Turn in your entry form and $20 entry fee (checks payable to Main Street Greenville) by September 30:
- Mail it to Main Street Greenville, 421 S. Broadway, Greenville, OH 45331
- Drop it off at the Main Street Greenville office
- Place it in the mailbox outside the Welcome Center at 421 S. Broadway
Once we receive your form and entry fee, you'll get a confirmation email with your pole number and location.
Key Dates
- By September 30 — entry form and fee due
- October 1–8 — decorate your pole
- October 9–12 — public voting

Rules
- Show your pole number. Work your pole number into your décor and make sure it's visible to voters.
- Stay under 9 feet. Don't decorate a pole higher than 9 feet.
- Nothing permanent. No glue, and don't permanently fasten anything to the light pole. Use painter's tape, string, zip ties or other easily removable materials.
- Keep it looking good. Check your design after storms or high winds and keep it maintained for voting.
- Leave it up through Halloween. Decorated poles stay up until after October 31. Tear down is November 1–6.
